Revised plans for Cornell ES

Faculty and community members provided input on several possible master plans developed for the Cornell Elementary School campus. (The original options can be seen in this presentation.) Based on this input, the architects have developed a revised master plan.

The revised master plan below shows the following changes based on Cornell community feedback:

  • Beloved tree is retained
  • No parking lots on campus
  • MPR beside the kitchen and servery
  • No play area on Talbot
  • Larger library and space for site administration
  • Flex areas including for art, science. MPR stage can be used as a flex space including for music
  • Similar size outdoor area for play and eating as exists now
  • Break out spaces provided at new construction

In addition, the revised plan shows:

  • Existing District Office remains on second floor in space that is not great for students. This also allows District Offices to be moved from the AMS and AHS, freeing up much-needed space for teaching and learning on those campuses.
  • No TK on the Cornell campus, with TK being relocated to the Albany Children's Center.

Review the images below to take a look at the revised plans and then provide your feedback through the survey beneath. Let us know: What is a positive (pro) about the revised plan? What is a negative (con) about the revised plan? What other questions or comments do you have?

As you review, remember that these plans are a draft and that any final master plan must take into account facilities upgrades across the entire District because proposed changes to one campus often impact other campuses.
